10 Reasons Why You Should Use Duolingo

Of all the language learning software, Duolingo is #1. Its fun, interactive, cheap, and almost everywhere. You can download it, and learn asap. You can learn consistently in a month. Save your money, use Duolingo.

1. Interactive. Duo uses these characters to say the words for you. If you get a question right, they will cheer. If you get a question wrong, then they will look dissatisfied.

2. Free is enough. But it has a paid version. you’ll learn a lot with the free alone. The free version comes with everything, but its more challenging to keep a streak if you aren’t grasping the language well. The paid version is about $85 a year, and mainly comes with unlimited hearts.

3. Popular. Duolingo’s mascot is Duo. If you don’t use it for any other reason, do it for Duo. He’s a smart cute little guy. He’s everywhere!

4. Status saver. Duo will save your current status. If you stay consistent everyday, then they will even reward you. The characters will cheer you on.

5. Confidence. Learning a language can boost your confidence. When you are studying, you need to practice it. I mean like, find a person who is a native of that country and practice with them. (Or someone who speaks it fluently)! You only get better if you put in the work.

6. Aggressive. Duolingo is aggressive, but encouraging at the same time. If you miss a day, the little Duo warns you. If you study, the characters cheer you on! Duo even says “Congratulations, keep going. ” (Maybe not in those words, but you know what I mean.) If you go a few days without it, Duo will cry. If you go about two weeks without it, he’ll turn to the side. So, Duo wants to teach you bad!

7. Portable. Duolingo is available on apple, android, desktop, gaming systems, etc. I know its the 2020s, but this is important. So, you can pull it out anywhere! Whether you’re at the bus station, or at the gym, you can learn a little. Sometimes the answers we need are right there.

8. Indepth. The app will break down a word. So for example, in spanish, if you say “Latino” referring to a guy, you’ll get it wrong, but the tip will explain the difference between pronunciations. The app will advise you to write words down.

9. Competitive. Compete with your friends. Compete with strangers. Duolingo has a board that ranks the top #1 of the day.

10. Advancing. Duolingo is always growing. The community is growing. The programs are changing. Today you’ll be playing a maze in learning skills. Tomorrow, you may be talking to a virtual reality teammate. Duolingo is always updating, and we anticipate more to come in 2025.
