Film!

There are many routes into the screen industries. Some are formal, such as apprenticeships and trainee schemes. Others are informal, including networking with employers and asking for a job. Think about both approaches.

Watch our video below for three top tips from industry professionals. Everything starts with a consistent routine. Write your idea. Shoot a little footage. Review it. Edit. Then Publish.

No. 1. Write It Down

You have to get your idea out of your mind onto paper. You have to write it down. Just jot down as many facts as you can that come to mind. Your writing doesn’t have to be perfect, just be clear. If you want to do something like shooting nature, that’s very simple. You can do something more complex, like making a fight between two business owners. The idea just needs to be written down on paper.

No. 2. Start Recording

You wrote down the info. Time to film. You can use your phone or even an expensive camera to record the scene. I don’t expect your first film to be your greatest. Your job here is get some experience. You need to film something. If you’re filming your cat playing around, then go for it. Or, have a buddy nearby to film you, if you are staring in the movie. Your film doesn’t have to be long, it’s your first after all.

No. 3. Review It
